From a young age Leona began performing with The Scottish Youth Theatre and as a dancer with the Scottish Ballet and even toured with the Youth ballet of Scotland.
She got her first job as lead vocalist/dancer with P&O Cruises. From there she made the move from Glasgow to London and shortly afterwards landed her starring role in the touring hit Show ‘Thank You for the Music.’ This led to work with ‘Abba Mania’ playing the part of Frieda for a short stint in the West End’s, Strand Theatre and also as a guest act on board the 6 star ship, Crystal Cruises.
Leona began her pop career in 2001 as part of an established girl band ‘Lemonescent’. The band went on to have 2 years of success throughout the U.K. from television appearances to arena tours supporting bands such as ‘Blue’ and ‘Attomic Kitten’. They credited a total of 3 top 40 hits and made 2 music videos. Some of her television credits include Top of The pops, The Box , T4, Nickelodeon, C Beebies, Trisha, Loose Lips and The Saturday Show. Leona’s television acting credits include BBC 4’s The Acid Test and a Paulo Nutini Music video.
Recording credits also include an album with her cousin in the duo pop act Scarlet Pearl supporting Justin Currie of Delamitri.
In 2009 Leona got her first lead film role in ‘Lapse’ with Napier University which was picked for the Edinburgh film festival.
Since moving to London Leona’s Theatre credits include principal boy in ‘Dick Whittington and his wonderful cat’, Manchester and Aladdin at The Princess Theatre Hunstanton, Sing A Long 70’s in Holland, Golden Music Moments in Holland, Hold Tight it’s 60’s Night and playing bond girl Ivana Avitov in The musical Comedy ‘Never say Never Ever’. Leona ‘s latest Theatre Tour was with Show Providers and Route 66 as lead vocalist/dancer. Other parts with David Graham productions include The Wonderful West End Tour playing Maria from the Sound of Music, Velma in Chicago and Eponine in Les Miserables.
Corporate all singing/dancing shows include Troops variety Show in Kuwait, Mama Mia, Back to Broadway, We Will Rock You supporting Lulu at Wembley. Leona also works as function singer for a number of top quality live bands at weddings/ bar mitzvahs around the UK and abroad. In 2008 Leona won The H Factor Talent Competition as well as 2009 Rendezvous Casino Search For A Star. This led her to start her own cabaret show with Choice Entertainment which sees her going from strength to strength as a solo artist.
Leona got her first classical singing job with Rock Band Barockster and will be touring Europe and America later this year.
